Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the closing stages of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the points lead from his teammate by just one point after his victory in Mexico City a fortnight back, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, sitting 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th position as his Red Bull team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, though minor, when he spun at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda slid over the curbs on exit before sliding over the run-off area, and was lucky to get away with just a slight brush of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the practice, rotating twice through the quick descending Mergulho corner approaching the last turn on to the main straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's car third fastest, over half a second off Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
